Scott M. McDaniel, Cognetics Corporation
Louis Drummond, Congressional Research Service, Library of Congress
Audience: In-Depth, Specialized, or Research Topics; Anyone
Curricula: Keeping Current: Methodologies & Skills Search interfaces are more than
just a single text entry box and a Go button. This presentation examined how we
dealt with specific issues while redesigning a search interface for Congressional staffers
for the Library of Congress. We answered questions about the proper way for fields
to combine in Boolean searches and what to do when technical constraints don't allow you
to support users' mental models.
